For lovers of literature, the fascinating Nikos Kazantzakis Museum in Myrtia is 15 km from Heraklion and offers an intimate portrayal of Nobel laureate novelist Kazantzakis, author of Zorba the Greek and The Last Temptation of Christ. 

The Kazantzakis Museum pays tribute to the important intellectual, author, thinker, philosopher, politician and traveler Nikos Kazantzakis.

Comprising a journey into the life and work of the great Cretan, letters, diaries, personal effects, photographs and mementos are on display alongside rare AV material.

Open every day 9:00-17:00 excluding public holidays.
