Maria Callas On Corfu

The exhibition “Maria Callas – World Priestess of Opera”, organised by the Hellenic Public Properties Company (HPPC) S.A. and the Management of the Achillion Museum, is a unique international event, which is taking place as part of the celebrations for the 200th anniversary of the 1821 revolution, co-organised by the Maria Callas Greek Society, the Ionian Islands Regional Administration and the Municipality of Central Corfu and the Diapontia Islands. The exhibition includes personal items, books of her sheet music and works of art related to the life and work of this great performer – from the collection of Mrs. Liana Skourlis – a portrait of Maria Callas – created especially for the opening of the exhibition by the Corfiot Visual Artist Elias Giannoulas, as well as eight authentic costumes donated for the purposes of the exhibition from the TEATRO DELLA SCALA DI MILANO. The scope of the exhibition in the Palace’s Dining Room is to provide visitors the opportunity to be introduced to the musical world of the artist as well as the story of her life and work.
